WATER

WATER

Spending my childhood years around the Ohio River, the Smokey Mountains and then the south western coast of Florida, water is very much in my accumulated memory. In so many forms and with every medium I use, it finds it way into my work and I revel in its appearance when it shows up. I hope it resonates with you. Typically I enjoy visually presenting an "impression" of water and the viewer can fill-in the blanks with their own history, memory and experience.

FLORAL

FLORAL

Who doesn't love flowers? For me, I find my joy in suggesting them and letting the viewer determine what they are seeing. Give the essence  of the bouquet or the garden and call forth the colors or the sky but let it be an emotional experience and not an explicit copy of a scene. This is what makes me happy to do as the creator of art, and it allows the viewer to participate in the painting, bringing their own viewpoint and emotions to it.

NATURE

NATURE

As with all the paintings of the natural world that I do, this one covers so much ground.  Yes, it includes all the water and the flowers and the land and the animal life.  What a wealth of amazing natural inspiration abounds and I love representing it in an intuitive manner.  I am so grateful when I am full of the energy in a painting and all of a sudden I see and feel a sense of the beauty outside and it is on my painting!  It will just appear sometimes!  Lucky me to get to express this and share it with those who also feel it.

ABSTRACTS

ABSTRACTS

Sometimes I feel like being more geometric in my work. I really enjoy painting this way as well as more organically. All formats give me joy and challenges with problems to solve to make a cohesive visual presentation. These tend to be more dynamic in structure thank some of my work, and so much fun to do, as well.

COLLAGE SERIES

COLLAGE SERIES

I have always loved painting interesting papers with all forms of media and then using them in my acrylic paintings.  After putting these papers away for a few years, I was inspired this past year to work with them again.  I felt such energy and renewal in doing something completely different for a while and feel quite happy with the results.   A number of these have had pieces of vintage kimonos collaged into the painting.  I had such fun with this series!

SMALL WORKS

SMALL WORKS

There is always a place to display a little color spot for a bit on inspiration on a shelf or a small easel.
